Goals:
- Learn anatomy of the lungs and function of the respiratory system
- Discuss diseases such as asthma and emphysema
- Learn the relationship between good health, fitness and the respiratory system
Classroom Activities:
- Find the heart rate in different parts of the body
- Pass around a model lung for all to see and feel
- Create a “respiratory tree” on the floor
- Build a model lung to take home that simulates breathing
- “Operation Time”- removal of the lungs
Homework:
- Complete the “Tree of Influence” that identifies tobacco influences in a child’s environment
- Complete daily physical activity calendars in classroom
